Tegrant Corporation, Alloyd Brands receives SFI® certification for promoting responsible forestry practices
DEKALB, ILLINOIS – (December 1, 2009) – Tegrant Corporation, Alloyd Brands announced today that it has received Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Chain of Custody Certification for demonstrating control throughout their purchasing and production processes on audits conducted at Alloyd Brands’ Printed Products locations in Batavia, IL. and Spartanburg, SC.
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification promotes responsible forestry practices. The SFI Chain-of-Custody tracks fiber content from certified lands, through production and manufacturing, to the end product. The SFI label signifies to the consumer that wood and paper products are from well-managed forests, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit.
“I am very pleased with the SFI Certification and the audit results achieved by our Batavia and Spartanburg locations. Both plants passed these audits with zero non-conformances”, said William Kelly, President of Alloyd Brands. “With this certification, Alloyd Brands confirms its commitment to provide our customers fully integrated, innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that differentiate our customer’s brands in the marketplace.”
To be certified, Alloyd Brands Printed Products demonstrated that the raw material in its supply chain came from legal and environmentally responsible sources. SFI certified sources carry SFI labels on their products to help consumers identify exactly what they are buying. SFI labels specify that some or all of the product’s fiber content comes from SFI certified forests, Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and/or the American Tree Farm System forest management standards; and that the manufacturer meets SFI standard requirements for fiber sourcing.
